Chocolate gift baskets at Sharis Berris

Inspired by those tasty chocolated-covered strawberries in chocolate gift baskets at Sharis Berries, Clarisse and I tried our hands at making and decorating some chocolate strawberries. We bought some fresh strawberries at the market. Picked up some chocolate bars, chocolate rice and chips at the groceries. I melted the chocolate liquor, dipped the strawberries and have the chocolate set before Clarisse starts decorating them. She wrote and draw colourful stuff on them. We put the finished chocolate strawberries in the fridge and told her we’d eat them after dinner. She was very anxious to eat them. Although it didn’t taste as good as Sharis, it’s been a great and fun afternoon for Clarisse.

Australia says no more advertising even on cigarette packs for tobacco companies

*Applause* to Australia’s Prime Minister Julia Gillard for passing a legislation that will see all cigarette packs come in uniform design and drab monotone color, irrespective of brands. The name of tobacco companies will be printed small compared to huge health warnings and gory images of smoking related diseases. Brand distinctive colors and pattern will no longer be allowed on cigarette packs. Hence brand recognition will take a dive which in turn, the government hopes will discourage the young from smoking.

Tobacco companies are riled by the legislation and promised to take the government to court. Claiming damages in millions, or even billions of dollars. Make all the noises they want, but these tobacco companies won’t get any sympathy at all from me.

Golf and GPS rangefinders

Golfers hone their swing and distance control to perfectly. It is only fitting that technology offers the most accurate distance information to complement golfers. Golf and GPS technology is a perfect match when it comes to keeping track of distances between you, the hole and various hazards on the green. Before GPS, golfers gauge distance using yardage charts and pacing. But GPS and laser rangefinder technology offers pinpoint yardage accuracy. GPS rangefinders cover nearly all popular golf courses in the US and Canada.

Ordered a butter cake for Clarisse’s birthday

Right after school, we took Clarisse to choose a birthday cake design and decoration. She chose a sea animal themed decoration. At first she wanted her birthday cake decorated with dinosaurs but it wasn’t available in the catalogue so she had to settle for sea animals.

We ordered a 2kg butter cake which cost RM124. Compared to last year, the price has increased sharply. It was around RM110 last October for Baby Edward’s birthday cake. It may very well be RM140 next year, I won’t be surprised. If inflation is growing at this rate, and our salaries could barely catch up, Malaysians will be in deep shit by 2020.

Anyway, I hope will be ok to celebrate her birthday with her classmates.

Neighbour too had their expensive golf and equestrian shoes stolen last week

I related our stolen shoes incident with our neighbours. They too told me about their share of misfortunes involving shoes being stolen. Most of it committed by young boys and drugs addicts as big time thieves don’t bother about shoes, no matter how branded or expensive. Theft is quite common in this area it seems. Everything gets stolen from worthless shoes to cars and it happens even during daytime. Just last week a neighbour two houses away was robbed of outdoors items – golf shoes, equestrian boots, metal tools.

My favourite Adidas shoes stolen

Talk about bad luck. Bad things happen all at once. It usually does. We just realised our tennis and running shoes were stolen! It must have happened wee hours in the morning and we only realise it in the afternoon. My husband have a pair of shoes for tennis and another pair for running. Whereas I have one pair for tennis and two pairs of Adidas shoes for running. One pair happens to be my favourite. Thieves are really getting more desperate these days. Our shoes are worn and old. My husband’s tennis shoes have soles already separating itself from the shoe. I did not expect anybody would even want them so I couldn’t bother to put them indoors. Yet, they got stolen.

Clarisse sick again so soon

I’m feeling worried again. Barely 4 days after going back to school, Clarisse is getting sick again. She woke up with a runny nose and a low grade fever. After school her fever shot up to 39 degrees. I gave her fever syrup and suppository. An hour later, her fever came down a bit. I really can’t help being worried sick after Clarisse spent a week in hospital recovering from pneumonia.

Her birthday is on Thursday, just two days away. And we promised her to buy her a cake to celebrate her birthday with her classmates in kindergarten. I hope it’s just a mild flu and won’t get worst. Most importantly, I hope she don’t suffer high fevers. It’s now wait and see.
