Baby Clarisse is one and a half years old now. Shopping with her tagging along is increasing a chore. The days of her sitting on the trolly quietly is nearly over. She like to walk on her own now but whenever we put her down on her feet, she’d walk everywhere with no regards to direction or where she should be going. She’d wander where she fancies. Stop and fool around with stuff. Taking things off the shelf and putting it somewhere else. She can keep herself occupied doing that forever, drives us nuts to pick her up everytime we need to move on to another section in the store. She’d be wailing and kicking when we carry her of course.

Taking care of baby Clarisse is a full time job. And I don’t have a maid to help me out. Ever since she was born, I have never found the time to play tennis or jog regularly outdoors again. I used to spent every alternate evenings to either jog or play tennis with my husband. These days the only opportunity I get to exercise is treadmills and I have to admit it’s an absolutely boring way to stay in shape. I’ve tried strapping baby Clarisse to the stroller so that I could take her along while I jog but no, she want out of the stroller in no time. So that didn’t work out. I really wish I could put some fun back into my fitness routine.

While browsing the web for some home decor, I bumped into these beautiful range of lighting decor which IMO is categorised towards a very limited crowd. Take a look at these fabulous ambience lighting equipment: home theater lighting
Catered for the home theater crowd? A very limited demographic don’t you think. I love rooms that are lit with warm ambient lighting. These lamps lend a very good touch to a warm and relaxing ambience. They’d look right at home at any rooms, not just ones with home theater equipment if you ask me.

Babies and toddlers toss and turn during their sleep. You place a blanket nicely over them when doze off to keep them warm and cozy. The next minute, the blanket is dragged to side or under their feet. Everywhere except covering their body. That is why baby sleeping sack is ever so useful. I’ve been using one ever since baby Clarisse was born. She is now one and a half years old and outgrew the length of the baby sack. Even so, I would like to keep using a baby sleep sack as long as she’s willing to. It’s time for a bigger one.
My mom offered to help me make a simple baby sleep sack. A bigger one to fit baby Clarisse. Last week I went out and bought a piece of cloth to make a bigger baby sleeping sack. I know you can simply buy a baby sleep sack from the store, but it is way overpriced and is often meant for babies below 18 months and to a certain height. Also the ones I’ve seen locally are made with fabrics that are simply too thick for tropical climate.

So we ended up making one from a thin, light, comfortable and most of all cool fabric. We try not to sleep with the air-conditioner switched on if possible. With a cooler baby sleep sack, we are more likely to sleep without the air-conditioner when a fan is sufficient to keep the air inside the bedroom cool enough. It has long sleeves and the length is exaggerated so that baby Clarisse won’t outgrow this home made baby sleep sack in a short time. I guess baby Clarisse can use it till she’s three. We also ditched the zipper and used buttons instead. Didn’t want the hassle of sewing a zipper when buttons are sufficient.
The previous baby sleep sack cost me RM69. This DIY home made baby sleep sack cost only a fraction. The piece of cloth is less than RM10 and an hour or two of cutting and sewing. It may look cheap and shabby, but its a baby sleep sack no less. Thanks mom!

While cleaning up old stuffy and dark store room yesterday, I found 3 big boxes covered in dust and cob webs. When I opened it, I was surprised to find thousands of pens and pencils. My husband collected promotional pens, pencils, lighters, matchboxes when he was a kid but it was a long forgotten hobby of his. He had simply forgotten all about these stuff let alone where it was kept. Most of the ink in the pens have dried up and unusable but the pencils are just fine. I’ll be keeping them hundreds of pencils and I think I won’t need to buy any pencils at all for baby Clarisse throughout her primary school

Exactly two year ago, I lost one of my favourite luggage bag at the airport terminal. That bag was bought many years ago and it utterly my favourite because it is extremely well-made and durable for the price I paid. The American Tourister Mobile Office (by Samsonite) was a steal at less than $60 (~ RM200). It has a useful side laptop access which I absolutely loved. Out of the few luggage bags I have, the Mobile Office was the most durable. Other ones, around the price range, barely came close and its usually the wheels, base studs and handle mechanisms that fails. It’s not easy to find value-for-money quality these days. The American Tourister Mobile Office is one heck of luggage bag for its money. Very well-made product at an affordable price range.

Our petrol prices are now back to RM1.90 per liter. Filling up the tank today compared to a few months ago when prices shot to RM2.70 per liter is a huge difference. The average monthly mileage I cover in my Toyota Vios used to hover around RM35 per month before shooting up to RM50 after the price hike.
We are considering getting a smaller car with a smaller engine to save fuel when driving around town. Althought prices are back to normal, there’s no guarantee it won’t go up in the near future. It will go up for sure, just a matter of time.

My husband has setup another desktop workstation PC in our home office which has taken up quite a bit of space. Not that we had plenty to begin with. After some consideration, we’re going to remove the TV cabinet from our home office area. It’s just too cramp in there and the cabinet is taking up a lot of space. Instead of placing our LCD TV on top of a cabinet, we’ll find tv stands with way smaller footprint or a wall mounting device that doesn’t take up any floor space at all. We’ll be shopping around for either one today.

Fancy making some ice cream? It’s really simple and I’ll share with you a recipe that will have you serving scoops of vanilla ice cream to your kids the next morning.
I know you can easily save yourself the time and trouble by buying tubs of Walls ice cream from the refrigerated shelves in a supermarket. But bear in mind they are heavily sugar and cream laden, it’s not exactly good for your health and weight. Furthermore, ice cream manufacturers usually skimp on ingredients. Hence, the texture, thickness and creaminess is lacking.

During our family dinner last weekend, my cousin sister took some photos of the occasion using her digital camera. Curious to look at those photos, I got hold of her digicam’s memory card so that I could download the photos into my notebook. When I got home, I realised the memory card doesn’t fit. As it turned out, my cousin sister’s digicam is a Sony and it uses it’s own proprietary memory card called memory stick *bummer*. Here’s writing this down as a note to myself, if it’s a Sony digicam I’ll need an adaptor that takes memory stick format to read it.
