36 weeks pregnant

I went to see my OB yesterday for my regular scanning and checkup. For the past 2 months my appointments were on a 2-weeks basis but as I’m now in my final month of pregnancy, I’m scheduled for weekly checkups from now.

The day before my appointment, I had to take 3 glucometer readings before meals as instructed by my OB. My sugar level in my blood and urine tested normal. It means my sugar level can be controlled by maintaining a diet of less carbs and sugary stuff, much to my relieve.

Baby is doing fine. I complained about sensations of menstrual pain occasionally. My OB says this is normal and are signs of the baby engaging. Baby’s weight is 2.6kg which is average according to the charts. Everything’s normal, thank god.

As for me, I’m really feeling the strain in the final month of pregnancy. My back and hips hurts especially after sitting or lying down for a while. My bladder feel like bursting sometimes. Not to mention the occasional uncomfortable bloating in my tummy. I’m also feeling hot all the time. It was usual for my husband to complain feeling warm in an air-conditioned room but these days I’m the one doing so.

Kitchen faucets still working as new

The old kitchen faucets in my house are fabulous. By the looks of it, I’m guessing these old Kohler faucets were installed back in the 80′s when my aunt and uncle still lives here. Although the shine of these kitchen faucets are long gone, they are still functioning as well as new. That’s hard to beat for value of money. I wonder how much Kohler stuff cost 25 years ago. They are fairly expensive but you pay for is aesthetics, quality, durability and reliability.

Raja Petra Kamarudin is back!

Raja Petra Kamaruddin is back with a vengeance. He may be a fugitive. His whereabouts unknown. But his impact and influence can be felt even so.

RPK is hitting back with a series of video interviews. First of the series is about selective prosecution. Again focussing on the issue of Altantuya Sharibuu.

Even with a lawful statutory declaration on Rosmah and several individuals involved in the murder of Altantuya Sharibuu, the police refuse to investigate. Instead, the police declared the SD as false and tries to prosecute RPK for publishing the false SD.

On the other hand, when it comes to petty issues involving opposition, the police is very quick to investigate. And in Teoh Beng Hock’s case, god knows what happened at MACC for him to end up falling off the 14th floor.

Share some quick weight loss tips

I’ve put on a lot of weight during the course of this pregnancy. I’m hovering around 74kg for the past few weeks. Needless to say I’m going to put in some extra effort to lose the pounds I’ve piled on. Breastfeeding is one surefire way to do just that and you better believe it. In my case, I was amazed at the weight loss effect it had on me two years ago when I was breastfeeding Clarisse. I barely had time to exercise but the weight kept shedding. So you bet I’m going to breastfeed her lil’ brother too. Do you any quick weight loss tips to share?

My eyes hate my LCD brightness and contrast level

An lcd monitor brightness and contrast levels has to be set correctly to prevent eye strain. Lately, I’m been getting headaches and nerve strain around my eyes staring at my screen. It’s a 24 inch LCD monitor we bought recently and I might have adjusted it too bright and glaring. In less than a week, my eyes are telling me I need to tone down the brightness and contrast levels too. Perhaps, it’s also telling me to cut down on time spent computing. But after some tinkering, I’m now feeling a lot better. My eyes are more comfortable and less likely to get tired or strained after a short while.

Good and not-so-good news at my OB visit

I’m in my 34th week of pregnancy.

Prior to my appointment with my OB this morning, I took a blood glucose level lab test. I was given a big cup of ultra sweet glucose drink at 8.30am. My urine and blood was taken at the same time. Two more samples of urine and blood were taken within the next 2 hours, at 9.30am and 10.30am.

My results came back at 11.45am showing my glucose level was a bit higher than average. In short, I’m considered diabetic in my pregnancy. I was instructed to change my diet and limit my intake of sugary stuff and carbs.

The good news today is the baby’s umbilical cord which started to wrap around his neck at around 4 months is finally out. Eventhough the cord was loose and the blood flow was fine, I’m happy to know it’s not around his neck anymore. In some cases, when the cord is too tight and blood flow restricted, babies growth can be hindered and had to be delivered early. So it had me quite worried throughout the past few months.

Malaysia new A(H1N1) infections drops to 99

99 new cases of A(H1N1) infection cases was reported yesterday in the news with no new death. For the past few weeks, two to four hundred Malaysians contracted A(H1N1) flu every single day. While the number of death, which now stands at more than 70, is scary, I am more concerned with the number of new infection cases. After all, this number indicates the widespread of A(H1N1) currently threatening the country.

The number of new infections dipped to only two digits yesterday and it should bring relieve to a lot of people. But I’m always skeptical of everything our government says. A lot of things giving government a bad rep gets covered up by the media. The true number of A(H1N1) death and new infections can very well exceed what we read or hear in the news.

Furthermore, a deadlier strain of swine flu has been discovered. When will this pandemic ever come to and end? In the meantime, stay away from congested places as much as possible. Maintain good hygiene. If you get the flu, stay at home, guarantine yourself and seek medical attention. Drink lots of water and eat lots of fruits and vitamins to keep your immune system in check.

And a word to those who think they don’t belong to high risk group, hence not really bothered about swine flu. Spare a thought to those who are. Especially toddlers and young kids. It takes a bit of effort from everyone to make this pandemic go away.
