It’s been a dreadful past one week. A little bit better than the first few days I started to wean baby Clarisse from breastfeeding, but still I’m having a tough time making her sleep.
It’s 9pm now. Baby Clarisse hit the sack at 8pm sharp. She started to cry incessantly after 5 minutes, roll all over the bed and just refused to sleep. It took more than 45 minutes of crying and struggling until she’s too exhausted to do anything but to close her eyes and sleep. If I were to give nurse her, it would probably take no more than 15 minutes for her to doze off completely.

Have you guys experience the Nintendo Wii? My husband and I were out window shopping today. We walked past the video games shop. Normally, we would’ve walked right pass it without batting an eyelid but today the shop has setup a promotional booth for the Nintendo Wii. The star product of the moment is the new Wii Fit, a balance board thingy apparatus for Nintendo Wii. This is our first time seeing the Wii in action and I like it very much.

The past 2 weeks has been very exhausting. Why? Weaning my baby Clarisse from breast-feeding. She would get up once or twice nightly crying to be fed but will not consume anything else except breast milk. Forcing her to drink formula has been fruitless. It made her resent the very sight of a bottle even more. In fact, the moment baby Clarisse sees me with a tin of milk powder, she’d start to pout and make noises.

Our HDMI cable failed today. Yes I can still watch my favourite DVDs and Blue-Rays but there’s a solarizing effect at the top part of the screen. I won’t mind the blemished screen and neither does baby Clarisse when watching her favourite toddler show but when it comes to daddy … whoa, he freaks out big time. He went out looking for HDMI cables as soon as he could and end up buying one twice as expensive as the old one, good gawd. I hope this one lasts.

We were window shopping, killing time in the evening before going back home for dinner. As always, we never miss the toy section unless really pressed for time. I am pleasantly surprised today when I saw PlaySkool has “In The Night Garden” plush toys! Baby Clarisse smiled when she saw an entire section, a few racks of the toddler show’s characters – Iggle Piggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka, Tombliboos and more.

People often asked why I quit tennis seeing I was really into it a few years ago. To be honest, I come up with all sorts of reasons. I’d blame the lack of time, waning interest, lack of hitting partners and many more. But the truth is, I’m just vain. I don’t wish to subject my skin to the scorching sun, which is abundant in our tropical country, for an hour or so. Sure there’s always sunscreens to protect against the harmful UV rays but what I’m really worried about is skin that ages faster than me. Most of us seems to be obsessed with expensive facial treatments, regular doses of botox or the best anti wrinkle cream to be found on the market. But I’m certain living in Malaysia, the sun is the biggest culprit that put extra years on the skin. I guess I won’t take up golf either.

Has anyone tried microfiber floor mops? I’m still using plain old floor mops so I know nothing about microfiber ones. But lately, my mom-in-law has been pestering me to look for them as she’s been hearing how good those things are at attracting dust. Apparently, they absorb and hold water very well. So when you mop the floor, there won’t be streaks of water left behind. I think I’ll head over to the nearest hardware store to get hold of them this weekend. Those of you who used microfiber floor mops, are they really good?

The local EON Bank branch secretary gave me a call two days ago to inform that my application has been approved by the branch manager and it is now awaiting the final approval from human resource, in HQ I suppose. I was assured that my pending approval at human resource should not be a problem but I’m keeping my fingers crossed nevertheless.

Last weekend, I attended a friend’s wedding dinner. The venue is a 4-star hotel ball room and the dishes were fairly delicious. I’ve been to quite a few wedding dinners this year and this is the second time I took baby Clarisse along.
Ideally, I was hoping baby Clarisse would take longer than usual evening nap, say from around 4-5pm and sleep for no less than an hour. However, things didn’t go as planned because she woke up barely 20 minutes from her nap and simply refused to sleep again.

Having ditched some of my insurance policies, I am now paying more for my health and medical insurance. Hopefully in the future, when income allows, I’d also like to look into extension plans on top of my current health and medical insurance. Things like medicare supplement which cover gaps left by basic health and medical plans. Or purely extended plans that affords you better facilities, treatment and hospital amenities. Again, when finances allow as the premiums I’m paying for basic insurance plans already amounts to several hundreds of dollars a month.
