Talk about being in the right place at the right time!
Baby Clarisse and I were in the room yesterday afternoon. She’s in the crib and we were waiting for Papa to finish showering. All of a sudden, the crib side rails collapsed and gave way when my baby Clarisse was leaning on it!
She would’ve fell flat on her face from a height of two feet onto the floor. God knows how bad she could’ve hurt herself. Miraculously, I was right in front of her at that very second to catch her and prevent her from falling. I mean, she literally fell into my arms.

Some relatives from my in-laws side came back on Friday for Ching Ming. They stayed until Sunday, that is today and will be leaving for home in the afternoon.
When families and relatives get together, you can be sure there’s plenty of food on the table. Not at home but at restaurants and coffee shops all around town. My in-laws would treat them to meals and the favor is returned. These couple of days, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner all over town. When there’s good food around, I just can’t say no. Luckily, relatives don’t get together much these days, or else I’ll be at the plus size clothing section forever. I guess I’ll have to lay off heavy meals for some time to loose those pounds I had just put on.

My nephew suffers from eczema since he was more than a year old. His condition got worse when he was around 2 years old and my sister put him on a very restricted diet avoiding food that triggers an allergy reaction. The diet cuts him out from food made from wheat flour and eggs, I recall. Those two ingredients alone are found in so many staple food it’s a very tough diet to follow.
As months go by, he hardly gained any weight and my sister decided to put a stop to his diet. She let him eat everything as he needed all the nutrition he can possibly get.

My in-laws’ Indonesian maid told us of her intention to fly back to Jakarta for a 3-week holiday today. As soon as I heard that, my first thought was if only she had said it earlier. Why? Because 3 weeks ago, the annual Matta Fair was on and that the best time to get the cheapest tours, cheap flights, cheap holiday packages and such in Malaysia. Having missed that opportunity, our next best thing is to AirAsia I guess. We managed to get her a round trip tickets for about RM200+, I don’t know if that’s the best deal around because we didn’t really spend time and effort to look for the lowest airfares in town. Anyway, it’s done. She got her tickets and will be leaving for home in August.

Funny thing happened today. Baby Clarisse needed to go potty before bedtime tonight. Papa was also in the room at that time watching TV before he decided to go out of the room.
The moment she saw Papa walk towards the door, she shaked her head as if “Papa, don’t go!”. We were pleasantly surprised at her reaction and decided to test it two more times. Sure enough, everytime Papa approaches the door, baby Clarisse would shake her head urging him not to leave.
The fun doesn’t end there. When baby Clarisse is done with her business, my husband said to her “Papa go out to take some water to wash you up. Wait!” and leaves the room. Instead of shaking her head, baby Clarisse just smiled and gladly waited for Papa.

I hate my fingers for clicking on Wilmington real estate now. One of my biggest wish is to be rich enough to retire and enjoy a comfortable in a coastal residential area, preferrably a beach house with a coastal front *droool*. And I don’t need these ads to remind me that very dream is still so so far away.

A few days ago, I mentioned about buying an extra mattress to put in the living room.To my surprise, my in-laws bought one yesterday. Great, or so I thought. When I was feeding baby Clarisse in the living room today, they brought out that piece of new mattress. Upon touching it, I was dissappointed how thin the padded material felt. The purpose of me wanting to get a new mattress is to cushion her fall whenever baby Clarisse spend time crawling or practising to stand in the living room. This new mattress however is made from such a thin piece of sponge that if she were to fall head first onto the mattress, it won’t do much to cushion the impact at all. I didn’t even bother to ask how much it was. It must’ve been cheap from the looks of it.

We ordered take-away from a wantan mee stall for dinner earlier in the day. While Papa was waiting for the food, a doggy came near the car. I wind down the window and baby Clarisse stood up to watch. The doggy remained close to the patch of grass in front of baby Clarisse. We hang around for a couple of minutes even after the food is ready because baby Clarisse got so excited watching the doggy wagging it’s tail, roll around and jumping about just a couple of feet away. Then Papa drove off. Immediately Clarisse started to cry. Cried her heart out in fact. It took me a while to console and calm her down. She cooled off when we reach home a few minutes later.

Baby Clarisse will be 10 months tomorrow. The past week has seen my baby Clarisse cruise all over the crib holding onto the rails. The size and thickness of the rails are just perfect for her little hands to grasp tightly so she has no problem cruising around the crib. She can’t cruise as well when her hands are placed onto sofas or against the wall, places she can’t quite grab onto well enough for support.

For the past few months, I’m slowly getting back to my pre-pregnancy exercise and sporting regimen which includes tennis, brisk walking and jogging on a daily basis. It helps that my husband loves tennis and jogging. We’ve been playing tennis for the past 10 years before my year-long hiatus after conceiving baby Clarisse.
My fitness level has plummetted to the extent of hitting rock bottom. I could barely push 5km jogging or last more than an hour on the tennis court. And please, don’t ask me about my weight and body shape as I don’t need to feel more miserable than I already am.
