My sister-in-law has just handed me an old Apple macbook. She bought a new one and doesn’t need this anymore. I don’t do much on my computer other than surf the internet, blogging and Skype. Things that can be done with computers half a decade old. This macbook is slightly newer than my old beat’up IBM Thinkpad R50e. I’ll be getting the macbook memory modules as I feel 512MB is really too little. Firefox can be a memory hog sometimes so 1GB should be the minimum for comfortable usage.

We took Clarisse to her doctor for the flu jab last Friday. The jab includes vaccination against the current wave of A(H1N1) virus. My husband and I took the vaccination too on the same day.
The night before, we were worried how Clarisse would react when told she’ll be going to the doctor. We were expecting her to freak out and cry her lungs out knowing how much she fear doctors.
When we arrives at the hospital, Clarisse had to be persuaded to get out of the car. Once she steps into the clinic, to my amazement, she didn’t cry. She went straight for the toys on the doctor’s table. Answered whatever questions the doctor asked. She didn’t burst into tears when the doctor examine her chest and back. I was expecting her to cry because she always does whenever the doctor starts to examine her. Today, she happily let her check her body, throat and ears without the slightest whimper.
But when the doctor took the needle out, Clarisse wanted me to carry and hug her close. She knew she’s going to get a jab and held me tightly. She cried a little bit after the jab. As little as fifteen seconds and then she’s off running around the doctor’s room.
We are so pleased that Clarisse now show much more courage visiting her doctor. Just 3 months ago, she was crying from the moment she steps into the doctor’s room until its over.

It’s been 3 months since Clarisse started to willingly go to bed all by herself. Without me tucking her as in ever since she’s born. We are very happy she started to adopt a more independent approach to sleeping. Before this, I had to spend at least 30 minutes by her side every nite just to make her sleep. And after baby Edward was born, my husband too had to devote 30 minutes of his time every night to cradle him to sleep. Or just to keep him distracted or entertained to spare me the time it takes for Clarisse to doze off. Nowadays, all Clarisse wants is her story book time, where either daddy or me would read a couple of bedtime story books.

I don’t know phase he’s in at six months now but since last week, baby Edward is noticeably more clingy than usual. He wants to be carried always but now he wants only me to carry him. Not even his dad can carry him for more than 15 minutes before he’d cry for me.
I know I shouldn’t rant or complain coz that’s how most babies are. They want attention and hate being confined to the high chair, bouncy net or play pen. But phew, it is really time and energy consuming to be carrying all day long.

Having sent the kids to my mom’s place this afternoon, I hurried to my usual beauty center to have a facial and anti wrinkle treatment. My first in years, so much so I could barely remember the last time I pampered my face to such extent. My husband picked me an hour later and we went for a movie. How long has it been since my last movie? Ironman. More than a year ago I’m certain. It’s such a great and relaxing afternoon when the kids are being babysit.
