Safety harness a must for any heights

This morning, my neighbour had someone over to replace an aging air conditioner with a new one. The electrician and three of his workers arrive to do the job. When one of them are hauling the heavy outdoor unit up the ladder, he slipped and fell onto the hard concrete porch. He fell from a height of nearly six to eight feet and was seen writhing in pain. He was quickly taken to the hospital.

Two weeks ago, I had to replace my air-conditioner and I asked my electrician why he and his workers need not wear any safety harness equipment while on the job. He told me two-storey houses are easy and they are used to maneuvering themselves safely at these short heights. Still, I wasn’t convinced with his answer as a minor fall, even at a height of ten feet, could seriously hurt someone.
