4 out of 6 CFL light bulbs in our down lights are burned out but never really took the time to fix them. We have two fluorescent tubes lighting our rooms which is bright enough so we don’t actually need the downlights. I was strolling along the discount lights section at the mall today and there’s this booth demonstrating energy-efficient CFL bulbs compared to normal bulbs. Pretty impressive but the energy-efficient bulbs cost fairly more than normal ones. There’s savings in the electricity bills to be had but that would take a long time. Probably 2 to 3 years of usage granted the bulb does not break down within that time. Even with the discounts given, I passed. The fluorescent tubes in my room give me more light than my six downlights.

My sister-in-law recently bought a digital camera. A very compact, slim and stylish Sony with 10 megapixels that came with a 2GB memory stick for storage. She shot about a hundred photographs last week and have them printed out. We browsed through the album and we kinda liked what we saw. The colours are very pleasant. Not too contrasty or saturated. It looks natural. Perhaps the printer did a pretty good job but it takes a good digital camera as well to produce good colours. Our only gripe is the noise at ISO800. Shots that are taken in low light looks very grainy compared our Fuji digital camera. But overall she’s quite please with her purchase. And the camera itself looks very beautiful.

Here’s a tip to kill mosquitoes that I picked up from the newspaper yesterday. I’m wondering if you guys have tried it. Pour some lemon-flavoured dish washing liquid into a plate. Mix it with a bit of water. Place it in a mosquito infested area. Apparently, mosquito’s flock to the mixture, drink it and drops dead. Does it really work? Is it effective? Sounds too easy to inspire confidence though.
Despite all our efforts to rid our house of mosquitos, all are in vain. It takes the whole neighbourhood to put in enough effort to make sure our backwards and drains are larvae free. But I guess that’s not happening.
