Despite all our efforts to make our home baby-proof, or more like expensive-fragile-stuff-proof if you ask me, there are bound to some areas we took for granted. This time she somehow managed to get her grubby little hands on our gadget basket. The basket is placed on top of a shelf measuring about waist high level and we deliberately placed the basket away from the edges. We chuck our handphones, PDAs, car keys, wallets and loose change there.
Clarrise has proven she is now tall enough to reach the basket while standing on the tip of her toes. She grabbed, pulled the basket and all the stuff fell on the floor. Luckily none of the stuff hit her on the head or face. But they did hit the floor hard. My husband has to get his cracked handphone screen repaired tomorrow.

My mom used to tell me not to get Clarisse too excited before bedtime. This is to prevent her from crying and having a restless night. I should have heeded her advise more diligently.
As most of you know, last night was Earth Hour and we switched off the lights leaving the fan and a tiny baby light on. Clarisse took out her little torch light and found it so exciting as the light penetrates the darkness. She had a constant grin in her face, jumped everywhere and pointed her torch light at everything.
Unfortunately, for the rest of the night, she couldn’t sleep restfully and woke up crying a few times. So she ended up sleeping on our nearly the entire night.
It’s funny how kids can find so much fun in mundane things. I never imagined she’d have so much fun with a torch light in the dark.

A friend whom I spoke to a couple of days ago wondered why I’m obsessed with losing weight right now considering the fact that I’m planning to have another baby ( or two, god willing ) soon. Why lose it now when in a short time I’d pile the kg’s back on again with another pregnancy. Being pregnant is one of the main reason why losing weight is important, I explained. It all has to do with keeping healthy and hopefully leads to a trouble-free and healthy pregnancy. Simple as that. Exercising, eating healthy and keeping the stress away keep high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol in check. I might resort to using weight loss products but I limit the amount to the absolute minimum and choose natural herbal based ones.

Are you hopeless when it comes to choosing wine? I know I am. I know nothing about fine wine. But if I were to pick a wine for any event, I would pick the ones recommended by Gold Medal Wine Club. The “wine of the month” featured in each of their 5 Series has to meet a strict selection criterion. The selection process includes multiple medals from major wine competitions, and high ratings from national wine publications such as Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Wine & Spirits, and Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate. Club members get to enjoy small production, hard-to-find, award winning wines from California and the world’s best small wineries. In most cases, chicken pox is relatively harmless. It tends to give a deceptive perception where one would often think vaccination or treatment is not necessary. Chickenpox vaccination is available to children from age of one.
How does one get infected with chicken pox?
Chicken pox is caused by a highly contagious virus known as varicella-zoster. It spread easily through droplets from an infected individual when he or she sneezes. You may not realise you have caught the chicken pox virus until two to three weeks later. Chicken pox virus requires 10 to 21 days incubation period after exposure.
Even before the rashes start to appear, an infected individual can spread the virus to surrounding people two days before chicken pox rashes are seen developing.
An infected invidual who appears to have recovered from chickenpox recently may still be infectious until all the scabs resulting from dried up fluid filled vesicles are completely dried.

My brother-in-law’s birthday is coming in two months time. This year, my husband and I decided to get him a nice watch as a birthday present. One that is within our budget, not too expensive. We were at a watch retailer yesterday browsing for a good 30 minutes. Our choices were narrowed down to Mondaine, Skagen, Seiko, Titoni and Festina watches. All of which produce good watches at reasonable prices. My personal favourite is Mondaine which makes watches based on Swiss Railways’ design. It is a classic design. My husband thinks so too but insisted we get him one that is automatic instead of quartz. Unfortunately the shop doesn’t have an automatic movement Mondaine. We were told to come back in a week’s time as the shop manager will try to order one in soonest possible.

One of the best things about vacationing abroad is getting to experience winter. For someone who live their entire life in tropical heat, my two-week winter vacation in New Zealand was an enjoyable experience. I know most people avoid vacationing during the winter season, but I wanted to experience what winter is like and I have no regrets. But I’d admit if I were to live there permanently, the freezing temperatures of winter may prove to be overwhelming and unbearable. Some nights the bedroom is so cold, I’d feel chilly under the thick quilt. Times like these I really appreciate the electric blanket that came with the rented accommodation. It makes the bed so cozy and warm you don’t want to get out of bed in the morning.

Yesterday was my longest wait to see my OB. My husband and I arrived at the clinic at 1.30pm only to realise my OB had to leave the clinic to attend to an emergency labor at around 10.30am. Hence, appointment in the morning session had to be pushed back and delayed for more than two hours. My number was 31 and the queue was stuck at 10. I knew we’re in for a longggg wait. Time passed so slowly in the clinic. I browsed through numerous magazines. Twice I went to the canteen to grab some snacks when I felt hungry. My turn finally came after five hours of waiting. At 6.30pm, I was so relieved when I heard the nurse call out my name. That’s half a day wasted at the hospital.

During a sale at our local department, I picked up four glass baby bottles dirt cheap. I remember roughly two years ago, I went looking glass baby bottles, the cheapest one cost three fold what I paid last week. There are tons of plastic bottles available compared to ones made from glass, hence the pricier they are. I was delighted to see the glass ones on sale last week, I bought four at a go. I very much prefer glass bottles to plastic ones. More so when it’ll be used with hot water frequently.

In my first pregnancy, I like to listen to every advice I could get from anyone. For me, it is good to know about the do’s and don’ts advices but some really makes you think twice. I’m sure you’ve been told by one person or others how to live. Am I right? It will becomes worse the further along in your pregnancy you are. Some people will want to tell you that you should not bend, or walk in a rush, not to carry an older baby in case you hurt the one in your belly or put yourself in labor. As the pregnancy gets closer to the due date you’ll be told many different home remedies of how to put yourself in labor.
Caught the flu virus? Some people may tell you exactly what to drink or eat to get rid of it without any medication. Thank them for their good intentions but keep in mind it is important to consult a doctor before trying to take something you’ve never take before.
During the nine months course of pregnancy, the most fun (funny?) stuff I’ve heard is wives tales, also known as myths. Here’s a few that revolves around whether you’re carrying a baby boy or girl.
