I’ll be going to the pharmacy today to stock up on vitamins and supplements for the entire family. Aloe Vera juices alone is going to cost roughly RM400 as we buy in bulk. So are the other supplements. The bill could easily run up to RM600 – RM800 at check out depending on whether I’m buying my weight loss pills too. These supplies could last the family for 3-4 months.
So annually, vitamins and supplements alone easily cost more than two thousand ringgit for a family of five. The adage “health is wealth” can easily be used the other way round. You need money to stay healthy. That is proving to be true more and more everyday as prices for pharmaceutical products are not cheap and rising every year.

My mom told me my uncle’s daughter has been discharged from the hospital yesterday. She was admitted due to dengue fever a few days earlier. I guess early treatment and medication effectively brought her ailment under control and she recovers quickly without any complications.
I’ll be going to the Majlis Bandaraya in my area to make a complain and request the authorities to fog my neighbourhood asap. Citizens can file complains or requests to the authorities on the first Tuesday of ech month. I can’t remember the last time they fogged my area coz its been years. Probably no dengue cases were reported within our vicinity but still some fogging from time to time is needed. Despite the recent spike in dengue cases, we have yet to see any fogging being carried out in our neighbourhood. I have to get some answers.

When it comes to washing silk garments, hand wash is highly recommended for today’s weaving technology. Warm water is the preferred temperature because it refreshes and rejuvenate silk fabrics. Also when it comes to washing my husband’s silk ties, I avoid using harsh detergents. Especially those that contains chemical bleaches or brighteners. Instead, I use a good shampoo or mild non-alkaline soap. Rinse it with clean water, sometimes mixed with hair conditioner which makes the silk feel extra soft and silky. All in all, it takes no more than a few minutes to get them silk ties washed.

Knowing that I’m interested to get back to the workforce, my sister suggested I try applying for a job in a US-based company in my area. There are vacancies for admin jobs I was told. I’ll definitely try for sure but like many other applications I’ve sent in the past few months and never got a reply or rejected, I’m not expecting good news. It’s been a really tough period for job hunting. I’ve been to a few interviews with high hopes of being hired but none has been successful. Furthermore, being away from the workforce for more than 3 years is really a disadvantage.

I came across a short article on whether or not parents are too involved with their child’s life and I’d like to share it with you.
There is no doubt that parents should connect and get involved with their children. A child who gets to spend time with their parents would feel more confident, secure and have a higher level of self esteem. That leads to them to outstanding achievements in school and perform well in extracurricular activities and with their spare-time activities.
But the question you may have in your mind, is there such a thing as too much involvement? It’s imperative when you’re getting involved with your school-aged child’s activities and academics that you know the line of what being too involved can be.

My husband and I are considering ditching our old TV and replacing it with an LCD flat-screen TV. We saw a 32 inch LCD TV at the store today which has some really neat specs selling for less than two thousand ringgit. A 32′ may not be that big, but it fits nicely in our bedroom. Currently our old TV occupies a lot of space in our bedroom area. It sits on top of a TV cabinet and we will get rid of the cabinet too. We will install LCD TV onto a plasma mount fixed to the wall. I hate drilling my walls but the thought of claiming back a couple of square feet in our bedroom is tempting.

It is crucial to let a child learn how he or she should eat healthy and that usually means staying away from McDonalds, KFC or Burger King.
These days, fast food is a big part of modern life. It might seem to be a losing battle as fast food joints come up with all sorts of gimmicks and marketing ploys to attract our kid’s attention. Even baby Clarisse, now twenty months old, recognises the golden arches and associate McDonalds as a fun place. She’d make a fuss while pointing her finger whenever we drive by a McDonald outlet. If you let your child the alternative between healthy food and junk food, you usually will not like the answer. As parents we have to stick to guns and hopefully our kids adopt a healthy eating lifestyle.

When my friend told me about the off-peak season promotion at Bukit Tinggi’s Colmar Tropicale resort, I was not impressed with the discounts given at all. It was advertised in the local newspapers. Despite the off-peak season, I found cheaper prices in travel deals offered online at various websites. So my advise to her was hang on to her credit card, get online and look through some of the websites I sent her. If there’s one thing the internet truly offers, it’s the cheapest travel deals you can ever find.

It is always a surprise to receive wedding invitations from people you barely know. I received an invitation to a co-worker’s son’s wedding dinner. The thing is, we barely even spoke when I was working at a real estate and developer firm years ago. All I know is she works in the accounts department. Never did we lunch together or met more than five times in the pantry. Nevertheless, my husband and I will attend the wedding dinner. I’m going to call my other co-workers to see if they are going as well. Hopefully, I’ll be seated amongst my ex co-workers. Especially those who worked in the same department as mine.
