Baby Clarisse had high fever
It happened 2 nights ago. My husband caught the flu bug last weekend and baby Clarisse must’ve got infected by it.
Baby Clarisse’s body felt a bit warm on that very day. It was 3pm late afternoon and we gave her a dose of fever syrup. I tucked her in at around 9pm and decided not to give her another dose of fever syrup eventhough I still can feel a lingering temperature on the moderate side. I preferred to wait until 12am, her midnight diaper changing time, to check if she needs another dose.
As I went into the room again at 10pm and as soon as I touched her forehead and neck, it hit me her fever has risen significantly. The thermometer were off the scale at over 40 celcius.
Frantically, my husband and I woke baby Clarisse up to give her another dose of fever syrup. It would take roughly an hour or two for the fever syrup to take effect and bring her fever down. So we cooled her forehead and neck with wet towel in the meantime. Upon my mother’s advice, I also boiled an egg, wrap it in a smooth baby face towel and rub it against her face and entire body (don’t ask, its a form of body heat extraction method passed down by generations I suppose. Scientifically proven or not, who cares). We kept applying wet towels hoping to cool her temperature for the next hour. Around midnight, her temperature came down significantly. From 40-ish to around 38 degrees celcious.
The next morning, we took her to the paedatrician who told us baby Clarisse’s fever might be a common viral infection. No sorethroat. Nothing to worry about if her fever goes away within the next 3 days. Luckily, her fever was gone the next morning.

If the temp is so high, I would normally use a suppository on my gals. Wah, you are good, boiled an egg at 12 midnight!

Yea, that’s what the doctor prescribed to keep in our first aid kit at home for immediate treatment in case of high fevers.
