She still makes the best mooncakes I’ve ever tasted

I bumped into one of my co-worker today. I was working in the bank 5 years ago before I left to work in another company, one that does real estate and property development. Her name is Ling and I haven’t seen her in years. All I remember was she’s into cooking and made the best cookies, cakes, sweet apple pies, sweet potato pie and best of all, mooncakes. We used to praise her to no end coz I have to say, the food she made for her co-workers were really delicious. Personally, I loved her mooncakes. Especially the pandan flavoured ones. Still one of the best home-made mooncakes I’ve ever tasted. She has two beautiful kids now, two boys at 5 and 2 years of age. Asked if she still bakes and cook, yea she does, a lot less than she used too with kids around.

China astronaut walks in space, who cares!

China has earned bragging rights by successfully sending a Chinese astronaut to outer space and they’re certainly flaunting it. And barely a month ago, they had another history highlight with their first Olympics.

Unfortunately, the only lasting impression China has made recently is the blunders made during the Olympics. The fake Chinese kid singing, or miming another girl’s voice just because she is prettier than the one behind the scene actually singing the song. Then we have the fake firework pre-recorded add-ons. The gymnastics where we saw Chinese gymnasts swept nearly all the gold medals but whether or not they deserved it is debatable.

Even the Olympic blunders fail to overshadow the mother of all scandals in recent weeks, melamine tainted milk supply used in baby milk formula which resulted in over 50K babies sick with kidney illnesses, hundreds in critical condition and 4 deaths.

Super-juice that contains Top 10 Superfoods

On my MSN contact list, there’s a bunch of contacts who are hardcore internet marketers and networking extraordinaires. I received a message this morning from one of them asking me to join Orovo, a profit sharing matrix program which sells healthcare and wellness products.

After years of dabbling in direct selling and experienced much to be desired results, I do not have the desire to get involved in any profit making programs that even resembles multi-level marketing so I politely declined.

Constant adult supervision required when Baby Clarisse walks

As steady as she can walk now, baby Clarisse still needs constant adult supervision wherever she goes. Be it around the house or public places. Those legs of hers would suddenly get wobbly and she’d fall on her bum. Other times she’s trip on her own foot and fall down, sometimes knocking her head and cry. She also likes to walk very fast and when she tries to stop and make a turn, that’s when she’ll trip or slip and falls down.

Baby Clarisse allergic to green peas

There seems to be teeny weeny red bumps popping out all over baby Clarisse face during the past few days days. Sorta like baby acne but on some parts of her face, it looks like a rash and red patchy areas. It immediately struck me baby Clarisse might be allergic to something. No, it wasn’t some topical cream as I didn’t put anything on her face. The only suspect was some organic green peas which I bought a week ago. It was something new I’ve included in her diet and chances are the green peas might be triggering a slight allergic reaction which shows on her face. It is always best to be observant and monitor new food type in your baby’s diet. It took me a while to realise the green peas as baby Clarisse has never shown any allergic reaction to nearly all food I’ve introduced to her diet so I slacked a bit. It was until my husband who mentioned green peas that made her stood up and take notice. The condition of her face immediately improved barely 2 days after consuming green peas. I guess I’ll stop including green peas in her diet for a while and save it for later.

Baby Clarisse just won’t say Pa Pa

Baby Clarisse call out to everyone in the family. Grandpa, grandma, mama and her great-grandma except one person … her papa! When asked to say “Pa Pa”, she would yell out “Ma Ma” instead. 9 out of 10 times.

We know she is doing it on purpose. Each time she utters “Ma Ma”, she would stare at him and laughs cheekily when she sees a frown on his face. And it doesn’t seem she’s getting tired of doing this to her papa. *LOL* It cracks me up everytime she does it.

Frest coat of paint for the car

My husband decided to give our car new coat of paint. Not that our 3-year-old car needed one, the original metallic black looks fine to me. He wish to have it sprayed in metallic silver. No, more like metallic grey I guess unlike the usual bright silver we see on most cars these days. Also, a few months ago, a motorbike slammed into the back our car causing a huge dent in the bumper and smashed the rear lights. We fixed it but never repainted the spot. So it looked very unsightly as my dad simply patched it up with a bottle of black spray paint. The car was brought to the shop yesterday. It’s a new and professional looking setup with a huge spray booth area. We’ll pick the car up tomorrow.

My IBM notebook battery died

After slightly more than 3 years of daily use, my IBM notebook’s battery died. We took it to the technician yesterday to have it checked because it doesn’t seem to be charging when plugged into the socket. I’ve relieved knowing it’s the battery’s fault instead of something inside my notebook, which could lead to longer repair time and a more expensive bill. For the past 2 weeks, my notebook has to be used right next to a socket which is very confining and inconvenient at times.

Baby Clarisse woke up with the sniffles

Baby Clarisse woke up this morning with the sniffles. Very light sniffling, I hope she hasn’t caught a cold last night. It rained the entire evening and we slept with the fan switched on instead of the air-conditioner. I didn’t wrap her up in the toddler sleeping sack which is too thick and warm without the air-conditioner. Trouble is, she has a habit of tossing around. A turn to the left or right would see her blanket pushed aside. My husband and I woke up 3 times last night to put a blanket over her properly. Even with the fan set to it’s lowest, it felt quite cold last night. I’ll be feeding her more fruits today and hope she’d be alright.

Cheapo faucet needs replacing

Leaky faucet again, barely two years of usage. The thing with leaving the purchasing to the plumber is, he’ll always install a low-grade product but you’ll be left with an expensive repair bill. This time around, I’m asking my husband, with help from an interior designer friend, to shop around for a quality faucet. Don’t mind the price, just get one that is stylish, functional and on top of it all, a high quality one that will stand the test of time. Our neighbour uses Delta faucets and it looks beautiful. And the best thing is, those stuff has never failed them for more than a decade. Even though it’s not cheap but it’s well worth the investment.
