Having bought several types of pillows hoping that it could provide support and relief to my neck and spine, I think it’s time for me to try something difference and more expensive: An ortho-pedic memory foam countoured pillow. What a mouthful for a block of foam that cost several times more than the most expensive downs and feather pillow I’ve bought in the pass. It claims to offer the most precise support and alleviate the symptoms of neck, head and spinal pain. I’ll be on the look out for one when I’m out shopping this weekend.

My neighbour is going to the US for a vacation again, so I’ve heard from my maid. This is the second time he’s leaving for Las Vegas in less than a year and I’ve got to admit, I’m envious! The furthest casino city I’ve been to is Macau, a detour we took from our Hong Kong trip in 2005. How I wish we’ve got the means to go on holidays in the US or Europe. On our trip to Hong Kong, we saved ourselves a lot of money as we decided not to stay in the 5-star hotel that came with our tour package and instead chose a 4-star accomodation which is a lot cheaper. Likewise, if we were to plan a vacation in, say Las Vegas, we’re going to look for cheap hotel Las Vegas has got to offer as it is obvious that accommodation expenses is a huge part of any travel budget.

Finally, I’m done opening a bank account for my baby Clarisse, a Yippie-i kids account at Maybank. Having kept baby Clarisse’s Chinese New Year ang pow money in the drawer for more than a month, she has a place to keep it now, her own savings account.

Do you have a friend who’s really into hi-fidelity audio visual stuff? Well, my husband has a friend who has up to now spent more or less $20K to turn a room into a home theater. And recently, we’ve got to see first hand what goes into making such an expensive audio-visual indulgence.

About two or three weeks ago, my baby Clarisse showed me she was capable and strong enough to grab hold of my hand and pull herself up to standing position. And a week later, she could even release one hand and balance herself with just one hand holding onto mine. That’s when I thought I should help her stand up independently.
Is your baby ready to stand?
Eventhough the signs are obvious that she’s ready to stand up, I’m still having doubts. At 8 months plus, are her legs and bones strong enough to support her weight? Is she ready to stand up at 8 and a half months?
From the day baby Clarisse discovered she could stand, which is around 5 months, my mom often warned me not to place her in a standing position for too long. This is to prevent any stress to her soft and immature bones which could lead to risks of getting bow-legged and spinal problems. On the other hand, there are disputes saying that it’s totally not true that a baby who stands early in age will risk getting bow-legged later. These are people who believes that if your baby initiates and willingly stands up, she’s ready to stand irrespective of how old she is. As simple as that.

“Is drug rehab the new black?” - This phrase cracked me up. It seems that being exposed for drug abuse, addiction, mental issues and sex scandals are among the best ways to gain publicity and revive a lagging Hollywood career these days.
Amy Winehouse won five Grammy awards recently. During the awards show, she did a ‘live’ performance broadcasted from a drug rehab center. She is allegedly on drug abuse - crack, meth, coke and heroin.
Rather than shunned, why the heck is Hollywood putting on the show for the most depraved and dysfunctional celebrities on TV? What a bad influence on kids

While browsing the internet on my bed last night, I suddenly feel the urge to splurge and indulge when I bumped into this - memory foam mattress.
It says: “Imagine a place where you can renew your mind and body every night. Where pain and stress melt away. Where pleasure and comfort greet you every time you lie down”.
Now that’s something my bed is sorely lacking. I’ve been waking up every morning with backaches and neck pains. I really wish to get rid of my mattress and get a more comfortable one.

Baby Clarisse had problems with constipation last week. Her stool was very hard and dry she cried when passing motion. There are two things which led to this I suspect. First of all, since I’m breastfeeding her, it could be that I’ve been avoiding fruits and vegetables when I had a cough last week. That could’ve caused my breastmilk to contain less fibre. Secondly, two days before baby Clarisse’s had constipation, I switched from Bellamy’s Oats Cereal to another brand. For several months, I’ve fed her Bellamy’s Oats Cereal every morning. So I quickly bought a box of Bellamy’s Oats Cereal and fed her in the evening. The next morning, her stool was back to normal.
Having seen the immediate effect of lack of fibre, I’ve got to make sure she gets her daily dose of fibre to promote healthy bowel movements.

Do wires and cables annoy you? My husband bought a Belkin wireless router and modem yesterday and he managed to set it up this evening. Both our desktop PCs and one notebook is connected to the internet wirelessly. Including the printer and wi-fi external storage drive. Therefore, our home office area is finally free from unwanted ethernet cables. No longer would our feet gets tangled by unsightly cables along the our walls. But best of all, I could work with my notebook anywhere in the house.

From the day our baby Clarisse was born, we have shot about 500 pictures and tens of video clips of her so far. These photographs and video clips are our treasure. Shot in digital format, we do backups every week and store them in several places:
- 2 DVD-Rewritable discs
- a 4GB Thumbdrive
- 2 external hard drives
- my online Flickr! account
- my laptop and desktop’s harddrive (which I don’t count as being safe at all)
