Baby Clarisse is a late teether
Baby Clarisse is definitely a late toother. She’s now 10 months old and her first pearly white has yet to erupt. The symptoms and signs of her teething is pretty obvious now. And I can see two small whitish bumps on the bottom part of her gums. Could it be anytime now?
Drooling, oh my gawd, she’s drooling much more than I had expected. Baby Clarisse has always been drooling a lot but the past few weeks were simply terrible. She had to wear a bib at all times or else her shirt would be all wet with her saliva within 15 minutes. And I guess it’s true that one of the symptoms of teething is mildly choking on her own saliva. Sometimes baby Clarisse would choke a little during her sleep and wake up with a cough or two.
I’d like to share with you what my friend told about breastfeeding and a baby with new teeth. Her son had his first tooth at around 9 months and she was still breastfeeding him. At first her baby would gently take a nip at her nipples. He would grin and my friend did probably one of the worst form of encouragement, she smiled back at him. That was enough to make him do it even more times. Subsequently biting her nipples harder and harder. Her smiles turn into painful grimaces. Being a nipple feeder, her son never really learned how to latch on properly. He seems to be getting enough milk because of strong milk flow. Her nipples even bled at times.
After hearing that, I don’t know if I should be glad that baby Clarrise is teething late ![]()

10 months is not considered late. Wait till you see my 2 girls - Alycia cut her first tooth at 12 months and Sherilyn’s first tooth only appeared at 14 months! And drooling is not a sign of teething, in my gals’ case. Both my gals never drooled and no symptoms of teething also. So don’t you worry, the teeth will eventually appear!
