Safety tips for preventing children from getting lost in public places
While having a chat with my girlfriends last night, we touched on the topic of child safety. Specifically, how to prevent children from getting lost in public places. You know how kids are and their tendency to run about despite numerous warning and advice.
One of the first precautions that pop up was to harness your child. Putting a leash on your kid, like walking your dog, literally. Child safety harness is a bit of an extreme if you ask me but according to my friends, they have no problem with it even if it attracts unwanted stares. Better safe than sorry as they say. The world is not getting any safer is it, particularly Malaysia.
Now on to more sensible and subtle measures. Educate your child to speak to security or staff in case she’s lost. That is an option if your child is old enough to understand and pray she won’t panic when realising mommy is nowhere in sight.
If she’s too young to speak for herself, attach a tag onto her arm or leg that has her name and your contact number on it at the very least. This allows a stranger who found your child to call you.
For those who can afford it, take it up a notch with technology. Get gps tracking systems that attaches to your child and emits a tracking signal for monitoring. What was high tech some years ago is now everyday technology for the masses.
