Are you into hi-fi home theater?

Do you have a friend who’s really into hi-fidelity audio visual stuff? Well, my husband has a friend who has up to now spent more or less $20K to turn a room into a home theater. And recently, we’ve got to see first hand what goes into making such an expensive audio-visual indulgence.

First, the home theater room environment and aesthetics. While my husband goes to check out the electronics stuff first, I was taken in by how inviting, comfortable and relaxing the room is. The cozy air-conditioned room is finished with specially designed sound-absorbing wooden panel walls and home theater carpet, comfy leather seats and warm lighting providing just the right ambience to mimic a mini theater.

Then there’s the perfectly matched CD/DVD source, amplifiers, DSP and surround sound speaker setup. The guys had a blast watching Transformers that night. The surround sound system rocks! At $20K, it had better be ;|

Despite being so impressed with it, I still find it hard to justify spending that amount of cash to watch movies.
