Dear expecting,

Sorry for my late reply. I hope your still haven't change your matress yet.

Chinese believes in never moving your bed and mattress throughout pregnancy as the spirit of the unborn child roams around the vicinity of your bed. It is also unadvisable to do any sewing or cutting on the bed to avoid hurting the spirit.

However if the mattress has already been replaced, don't worry about it.

I'm 15 weeks pregnant, my husband is Chinese and his sister just had a 2-month premature baby. It's three of his siblings birthday this week. His oldest sister told us not to announce our pregnancy because our unborn baby will be jealous off all the other children's attention on it's special day (the day of the announcement). Have you heard of this? Also, I had a miscarriage at 12 weeks last year and his parents said it was becuase our house was blue and we had a red wall in the basement. Anything on this? I can't find anything on the net. His parents came to Canada over 40 years ago yet they're still steeped in old-school China traditions/superstitions....

I'm a little hay-wired now. I'm not too sure how far should I believe in this.

I am in my first trimester. Pregnancy came very unexpectedly as we planned to conceive only next year.

I just moved to Australia last year where my husband lives and we bought a new house. We want to install ducted reverse air cycle this winter.. If I wait till the baby is born I don't think I can survive here during summer as it's hot as hell with some days being 41degrees.

Eva's last blog post..POrky
