Natural remedies and cures for cough that is safe for pregnancy
I was worried when I caught the flu during the 3rd month of my pregnancy. I had mild fever, sore throat, cough and runny nose. I went to see my gynae but I did not mention about my cough as I do not wish to take cough syrup. Fearing it might affect my baby. I took some panadol to relieve my fever and lozenges for my sore throat. As for my cough, I was able to relieve it with a few effective natural remedies :
- Take 1 cup of honey, 3 tablespoon of lemon juice and mix them in a 1/4 cup of warm water. Take two teaspoons daily.
- Boil 3 cloves of garlic in a cup of water, then just drink the water when it’s still warm for twice a day.
For dry cough, try this natural home remedy instead of resorting to cough syrups:
- Almonds are useful for dry cough. It is also a good source of calcium to boot. Soak 5 to 8 kernels of almond in water. Leave it overnight. Remove the brown skin. Mix 20gms of butter and 20gms of sugar into the paste. Consume it morning and evening.
